During our 7 1/2 years of marriage, James and I have been the lone couple on my side of the family.   I think every year since then my Mom has given the family a goal of "adding one more person to the family this year."  I think half of those years, James and I accomplished that task by adding children.  You're welcome Mom!  But, we were long waiting who would be the first to add a spouse to the mix.  This last March, Aaron married the most wonderful young woman we could have imagined for him.  Shalece Kofford is Aaron's exact match- really they have lived parallel lives their whole lives.  It's some what comical.

When they finally announced their engagement, we were so excited and couldn't wait to get this couple married and on with eternity!  Getting ready for a wedding is always an interesting adventure.  For those who have been through it, you understand, but some how everything always comes together and only fond memories are left when all is said and done.

The Barrow family was put in charge of the family dinner the night before the wedding.  We decided on a theme of "Sharing Time and Eternity."  The tables were decorated to celebrate a part of their lives thus far.

"Home Sweet Home" highlighting home states Colorado and North Carolina

"Love of Learning" highlighting time at different universities

"Love of Athletics"  highlighting the many sports Aaron and Shalece love

"Love of the Gospel" highlighting their missions

"Romping through Childhood" highlighting their younger years

We held the dinner in the Relief Society room of my ward building.   We served Eastern North Carolina BBQ with all the fixings.  My mouth is watering thinking about it:

NC BBQ, coleslaw, hush puppies (so good!), baked beans, corn, rolls, with an assortment of sauces.  Spinach salad and a veggie platter were served as appetizers and root beer floats were served for dessert.

I should have stood on a char to get all the faces here, but you can see the food!  (I know that's important.)

This is a little better from left to right: Shalece, Aaron, Mom, Dad.  You can see our good help in the back ground.  I am fortunate to have such good friends to call on when I need a little help.  They helped dish and serve the food and clean the kitchen.  The night would not have been the same with out their help in the back ground!

After dinner we had a program.  McKay was master of ceremonies.  You can see a lot of people looking at their phones.  UNC was playing Ohio right then and several people were keeping up with the score during dinner because, well, for a minute there we thought they might lose it, but they managed to pull it off.

My Dad took some time to talk about the bride and groom.

The bride and groom took some time to explain why in the world it took them so long to get engaged.

Bro. and Sis. Kofford took time to talk about their side of the story.

As the night went on, my kids started getting bored so what else is there to do than give them the camera and let them take pictures!  It's always a good time seeing their view point afterwards.

Kelley, me- I'm super cheesy!

Beyond boring.  Who's idea was that?

And finally the dinner was over (James ended up taking the kids home early and putting them to bed.)  He is the best dad and husband ever...or...he wanted to catch some march madness also.  You be the judge.

After we cleaned up, the families parted to prep for the big day!  We (Mom, Jenny, Kelley, and I) really enjoyed Aaron's bachelor party.  We gave each other pedicures while we sent him to the store to buy us pantyhose and oreos.  He's such a good brother.

The next day was beautiful.  You couldn't have asked for a better day in March in Utah.  Warm and sunny!

I don't have too many pictures from wedding day (you're lucky you got so many of the dinner!)  But, I do have the most important one:

We're SO happy to have Shalece join the family.  You can really tell that through all these years of waiting and wondering who "the right one" was, they in fact were being molded into complimentary matches for each other.

Not a month after this wedding, my little sister Kelley announced her engagement to Andrew Miles.  So, we get to do it ALL OVER AGAIN!  Can you feel my excitement?

And, I'll spend the rest of the next 10-15 years explaining to my Miles that he was not named after Kelley and Andrew Miles.  So confusing.

Maybe in a year, I'll get that post up! :)

Oh, P.S.  We will be decorating a car for you someday!  Thomas has not forgotten.
