My little baby girl turned 5 this past February.  We decided to have a friend birthday this year.  Hailey has so many nice friends her age in the neighborhood.  Here's a picture of the group.  I especially like the boys' faces.

I made cupcakes in ice cream cones.  I don't recommend it.  They look really cute, but they are so dry! I guess I could have figured so much before I made them, but they are so popular on idea websites like pinterest that I thought surely they were a little good.  Even the kids didn't eat them.  Major bummer.  They all ate the frosting and left the cupcake.  I could have just given everyone a spoonful of frosting.  It would have been much easier.  Hailey didn't seem to mind though.  Bless her heart.

That night we had dinner with a big side of olives, Hailey's favorite food.

And, a real cake.

I wanted to give her something more than just a toy this year.  I try to do that for each of my kids' birthdays, but not every year is as good as this one was.  I'm afraid I set the par high here, but I really enjoyed making this gift her her.

I made her a princess dress and it is fancy enough for a ball!  I'm pleased that she has worn it so often.  This has been so much more fun than a toy that is always being stepped on or lost under the bed.

Any suggestions for next year?
