Thomas is 6!!

My baby turned 6 last September!  He had a great time celebrating his birthday.  Because his birthday is so early in the school year, he was the first student in his class to be the "Star Student" for the week.  He did activities like make a collage of things that he likes, decorate a cardboard person to look like him, take the math bucket home, and show and tell.  He showed a book called "Duck! Rabbit!"  Here's a link to a cute youtube of the book: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPCoe-6RRks).  It was quite the experience for his, and my, first week of school!  It's made all the homework since seem easy.

On his birthday, I took Thomas, his best friend Lincoln, and Hailey to Classic Fun Center.  I was in luck that his birthday fell on a Tuesday because all activities are only $2 on that day.  They are usually $7!  Who pays full price for that place?  I don't know, but I feel like we got our $2 worth.

They had fun bouncing around on the blow up toys.

And climbing in the Pirate's Cove.

Arrrrrggg.
Miles had just really began walking, we spent the time walking around while the kids played.

After playing, we went home to eat Thomas' birthday dinner- nachos- and cake.

He then opened up his presents and got a cool ball racer track from Grandma and Grandpa, a star wars coloring book and a racing car from his friends, and a cd player and cds from Mom and Dad.

Thomas has really loved being 6 and has even memorized a poem with help from his Grammy about being six.  The poem is by A.A. Milne, author of Winnie-the-Pooh, titled "Now We Are Six":

Another activity from his "Star Student" week was to collect thoughts from his family here are some of them-  others were mailed directly to him and I have put them in his book, which his teacher still has, so I don't have them here for this post.

I love Thomas because he loves to jump around and play with his cousins.
Thomas is terrific because he is so smart!
Something I admire about Thomas is that he is very brave to be the oldest brother, and does a great job of being an example to his younger siblings.
~Uncle Brian

I love Thomas because of the example he sets, as the oldest Boy of all his cousin's, he is the perfect leader!  I love you Thomas, you're the BEST!
~Uncle Lance

Thomas is terrific because he is always wanting to know the right answers.  If he is given a wrong answer he will usually figure out that it is wrong and demand an explanation.
~Uncle Chris

Something I admire about Thomas is the many interesting facts he knows
about everything. He is amazing and entertaining to listen to!
~Aunt Maria

Thomas is terrific because he plays Lego's with me.
~ Eric

Thomas is terrific because he plays with me at Grandma's house on the trampoline.
~Abby
If Thomas were a Jedi he would be the next Obi Wan Kenobi.  I love Thomas because he is so creative and curious. He loves to learn and he is so much fun to play with! I can't wait to see you guys in September!

Love,
Aunt Kelley

Thomas is terrific because he is always ready to play with me when he comes to visit in North Carolina!
Thomas is terrific because he is very kind to his sister and brother.
Thomas is terrific because he is a scientist.
Thomas is terrific because he is very funny when you talk to him on Google chat!

Love,
Uncle Aaron and Aunt Shalece

Thomas is terrific because he gets a smile on his face when he flys a helicoper, with the remote control or sees a train puffing smoke as it goes around the track or best of all, he can build anything you can think of out of Legos.  If that is not terrific then nothing is.  So Thomas is terrific.

~Grandpa Barrow

I think Thomas is terrific because he his so smart! He knows words that i don't know. He is always wanting to learn new things and is very curious about what is around him. I love you Thomas!

~Aunt Nata

I love Thomas because he is always cheerful to see me. He is energetic and always finds ways to create his own fun. Thomas has a great imagination!

Uncle Brett
