While in NC, we were able to go to visit my beloved Atlantic Ocean. We hadn't been to a NC beach since Thomas was about 9 months old. (We did visit SC last Christmas, but their beaches just aren't up to par, and it was freeeeezing!) We were way past due a visit! The weather was perfect, but there were so many waves and they were really rough! I was ok with that because I don't go to the beach to go swimming anyway- I know, James says I'm crazy too. Something happened after I became a mom. I got safe and liable for my actions AND, I've heard way too many stories about riptides- they are real, and they kill. I like to just watch the waves and marvel at the vastness that is before me. However, it made the swimming fun a little more difficult for James and the kids. They managed to have a great time anyway.
Yes, I did have to go and save Miles...
Here's a great picture of Thomas just surrounded by the white foam.
Here is a great example of how fast the waves were moving. I mean, Hailey is so light that she was literally just pushed around.
Grammy and Miles.
Miles was curious about the waves. He only knows lakes, the pool, and the bath tub- this was definitely something new to take in.
See Thomas trying to hold on to the sand?
When Miles was done exploring the water, we moved on to play with the sand and shells.
I love this picture.
Thomas remembered seeing pictures of James buried in the sand and wanted to do it himself.
I don't think he's too sure about the experience anymore.
Hailey wanted to try. Unfortunately, her brother got sand all over her face, so it didn't last long and we were more concerned about getting the sand off her face than taking video. I did want to snap a quick picture though.
Grammy and Thomas.
Love this one too...
By the time we were getting ready to go, the waves had calmed down a little and Thomas wanted to try out the boogie board with Dad before we left. It's a long video, but he does eventually catch a wave.
Hopefully it wont be another 5 years before we make it back!
