Little Ryland has given me a little nostalgia. I just can't help but post a few videos from my little baby's early days. Every age brings it's joys and hardships, but somehow the joyful days seem to stick out in my memory more...thank goodness. These videos bring me big smiles.
This first one is Thomas at just one day old. Because of a long labor then an emergency c-section, the doctor wanted him to stay in the nursery to make sure he didn't have any fluids in his lungs, which he didn't. That was the hardest thing for me. I remember that after he arrived, they showed him to me and then took him immediately to the nursery. The next time I saw him was via video that James took of him in the nursery (not this video). Because of my surgery, I couldn't get up for 8 hours, but believe me, as soon as that 8 hour mark made it (I think it was like 4 in the morning), I had the nurse walk me down to the nursery so that I could hold my little baby. He was my sweet little baby boy and he still is.
Thomas was about 6 weeks old in this video. We lived in cold, cold, Rexburg at the time and also had tile floors in our kitchen. Now, tile floors are nice, but they are hard and cold just by them selves, we were lucky enough to have the added chill of Rexburg weather. Hence, the reason for the 50 blanks under him.
This is a classic laughing Thomas video. Thomas took his time to give us his first smile, but once he found his smile, he couldn't stop finding ways to use it. This particular time he just happened to have scooted over to our bathroom area and I walked past him. He found my socks really funny, so I just went with it and now we have this video that always makes us laugh. We especially like that he can't even hold his head up while he laughs.
Here is our first video with Hailey. Her birth was much less stressful then Thomas' since she was a planned c-section. I also had a chance to have her in a my room right after she was born. I was so glad to know that I would have a daughter. I feel like it's a great privilege to be blessed with caring for our Heavenly Father's spirits, but to have one of His daughters is such a wonderful opportunity. (I know it's sad that it took us almost 2 days to get a good video of her. It's just second child syndrome.)
This is one of my favorite parts of newbornhood. I love how they have so many facial expressions while they sleep. It just makes you wonder what is going on in their mind.
I like this one because Hailey was a talker. She also really liked to sing and still does now. I love listening to her walk around the house singing her made up songs, especially when she's cradling her baby doll. This one also reminds me how little Thomas was when I had Hailey, but as you can tell, he was and is a sweet brother to his little sister.
And there's your trip through my Nostalgial Land. They were good times.
