Independance Day!

Ok, so I uploaded my pictures backwards and I'm too lazy to fix it, so we're going to start at the end of our day and go backwards...

While waiting for fireworks, we pulled out the games and oh did we have some good ones going on...

In the forefront of this picture we have a mad-dash game of cross country spoons, or starburst in our case.  The basic rules are: instead of placing the spoons/starburst in the middle of the group, they were placed far away from the group and when it came time to claim your spoon/starburst you had to run for your life and tackle anyone, if necessary, to claim your seat in the next round.    I should have taken video of everyone running for the starbursts.  It was pretty hilarious to watch.
In the background of this picture you can see one of our new favorite games being played- Spot It.  Why do we like it so much?? All ages can play, yet all ages can feel challenged.  Come by and play with us sometime!

This is what my oh so creative son (*note sarcasm) did while he waited for the fireworks.  There are way too many ways to play electronic games out there.

Here's my sweet Hailey with her sparkler.

And my sweet baby and husband.

Moving on backwards in time, we had a yummy picnic at Lisa and Lance's the afternoon of the fourth.  Before the food was served the kids had fun playing in the pools and sprinklers.  Then, we had delicious turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwiches with all the sides.  And after all that goodness, I pulled out my favorite cake of the year...my flag cake in all her glory.

How can you not but feel patriotic when you're eating this beauty?  I like a good dessert that gives off a great presentation, looks hard to make, but is actually quite easy to accomplish.

Going back in time again...here we are on our way down to the picnic.  This is mostly documenting Miles' graduation to a big boy car seat.

The morning of the Fourth, we went to the Clearfield parade.  I loved it.  Good seats in the shade, few crowds and plenty of candy for the kids.  We met up with some of our friends, the Flamm family and some of their neighbors.
Here's a picture of all the kiddos.

And again my sweet baby and husband.

We had a fantastic day and really enjoyed our break of our everyday schedules.  It's such a blessing to live in our country!
