Rexburg

The first weekend in October we drove up to Rexburg for a wedding reception. James' cousin Trevor (and my old FHE brother) got married earlier this summer in Alaska and chose this weekend to hold a reception in Rexburg. Wanting to see family and Rexburg, we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to go and visit that happy little town.

Jenny was able to come with us, which is always a huge help because she so willingly helps out with the kids. She also wanted to go and visit her first home away from home. Friday morning James and I got up early to go to the Rexburg temple. We had never been inside because it was dedicated after we had moved away and on with our lives. It was the first time we had been back to the temple since Miles was born. It was so nice to sit in such a beautiful place filled with the spirit.

We then went to say hi to Aunt Barbara and also to visit Smith Park.

Afterwards, we headed up to the BYU-I campus and visited the bookstore where James use to work. The campus is really growing and feels much more like the BYU Provo campus now than the one we were familiar with. While reading the quirky campus paper, The Scroll, Jenny saw that there were apple orchards on the south end of campus that was open for anyone to pick apples from. So, we headed up there.

We found some really yummy apples to take home with us.

Then we had to weigh them and pay $0.25 a lb for them. I sure wish I had known about this place when we were poor students. We would have been eating everything apple at that price.

And Saturday morning we got up and headed up to Messa Falls, a favorite destination when we lived there. We also listened to General Conference on our way. And now I think it will be a tradition to drive somewhere two hours away, eat a picnic then drive home, so that we can listen to Saturday conference while the kids are confined.
