I've got two stories that I seriously need to record somewhere before they are lost in our memories.
Many of you have probably already read the following story on James' Facebook, but if not...
Thomas and Hailey decided to play "run" one day. They set up some books as if it were a laptop (one standing on it's side like a monitor, the other laying down like a key board), then they would quickly tap on the "keyboard" and intently stare and the "screen." At some point one of them would declare that it "looked like a good run" (James and I both look up routs online before we take off so that we know how far we will be running) and take off running down the hall and back. They would come back huffing and puffing and declare, "Wow, I'm sweaty!" or "That was a good Ragnar!" Then repeat it all over again. Usually I quickly stop running down the hall, but this was just too fun and creative to stop.
Funny kids. They really do watch and pay attention to everything we are doing. I'm glad that we have set a good standard for exercise and they aren't playing something like "sit and complain about how my clothes don't fit, my legs and hands are swollen, and my back hurts." Nope, that game would not be as fun to watch.
The second story is totally Thomas. Sometimes I think he's possibly the weirdest kid in our small corner of the neighborhood. But, he's got a good imagination and he provides me with lots of chuckles throughout my days.
It had been sprinkling off and on all morning, not to mention the chilly air for May. His little friend came and knocked on our door to see if Thomas wanted to go outside to play with him.
Thomas simply said, (I'm still laughing) "No, it's raining. But, I know someone you COULD play with." (This perked my interest in their conversation.)
"Who?" asked the friend, then continued to list off everyone he'd already tried before coming to our house.
"The birds!" said Thomas "You can run and chase them. Look there's lots of them out!"
I couldn't really tell what his friend said in response to that. I wish I could have seen his face at least. But, when I suggested to Thomas that he invite the friend to play inside, the friend politely declined. I'm sure "weirdo" was swimming somewhere around in that little head of his. It gave me a good laugh though. Now I know who to suggest when Thomas tells me there aren't any friends to play with. The birds!

LOL, the birds?? Thomas has got a great imagination. That is too funny. I would have loved to see the look on his friends face also. I can only imagine what he was thinking....ha ha!
Ann he comes by it honestly. If you recall sticks and rocks have been great friends for another little boy.
I'll have to use the birds as friends for Abby next time she starts asking for friends :) Cute stories!
