We were so blessed to be able to spend the Christmas break in North Carolina with Ann's family. We filled our time with southern BBQ, one dish featuring dutch oven cooked BBQ and Toung Tinglin' Sauce...yummm, golfing, toys, walks, bike rides, children's museum, the Transportation Museum, parks, shopping, eating, games- we really like a new game called Ticket to Ride-, and lots of running. We took advantage of beautiful weather and babysitters and ran almost everyday while we were there.
It's so much fun to be able to go back home and just lay back for a couple of weeks. It was also really nice to have James there the whole time instead of sending him back home early. It definitely helped on the plane ride! Thomas is an excellent flier, but Hailey would have much rather walked up and down the isle. It's always bitter sweet to head back to our home. We know that it's going to be months before we get to see each other again, but at the same time it's also nice to get back into our own beds and back to our own routine. Can't wait to do it again!
This was classic Thomas, he walked into the room where Santa had been and saw Jenny's present a fireplace kit including a billows. He was satisfied with that. But, when he saw his real present he was stopped in his tracks. Oh, I wish we could have gotten his face on camera.
Hailey got a new baby doll and a stroller from Santa
Santa brought Thomas a new race track and an assortment of vehicles to go with it.Here are a couple of pictures and a video of the North Carolina Transportation Museum. We were able to ride a real train and they had a working turntable at their roundhouse. It is located in Stanley, North Carolina. It was a large steam engine shop that didn't survive the transition to diesel.

On our way to the Transportation Museum, Thomas was so excited that he wouldn't stop talking and singing. I looked back and saw that Hailey had her ears plugged, apparently trying to drown out Thomas' senseless noise. It cracked me up. By the time I got the camera, Thomas decided to copy her. I love her expression.
We also took the kids to the local kids museum called Marbles. They, obviously, had a great time. Thomas even talked Grandpa into taking him back that Saturday.

Hungry Hailey.
Fishing Tom.
How come kids love water sooooo much? Hailey also loved eating the toys. They had "chewed toy bins" all over the place. You could throw any toy that had been chewed on and they'd clean it again. What a good idea.

These were cages sticking out of the wall on the second level. Hailey was playing peek-a-boo with Kelley. No fear.
We also took a trip to an awesome park in Cary, NC. We took the bikes and rode the trail there, which featured a bridge over U.S. 1, and we also had a picnic lunch. Yep, December in NC is wonderful.

It was foggy when we got up that morning, but it cleared by midday.
